Rocky Pihlaja serves as Division Manager for the Duluth Division at Swanson & Youngdale, where he oversees field operations, estimating, project management, customer relationships, and financial performance. In this role, he is responsible for overall division performance and ensuring alignment across teams.

Rocky brings 20 years of industry experience, including 15 years with Swanson & Youngdale. He began his career as an apprentice taper and painter before advancing to journeyman and foreman roles. He later transitioned into the office as an assistant project manager, quickly moving into a project manager role before becoming Division Manager in 2024.

Rocky’s expertise includes client relationships and all aspects of commercial painting, from product knowledge and application methods to estimating. He has experience working on tenant improvement and housing projects, where coordination and execution are critical to success.

Rocky focuses on setting clear, attainable goals and placing the right team members on the right projects to support strong outcomes. He emphasizes evaluating opportunities to ensure the right fit and maintaining a steady, solutions-oriented approach to leadership. Known for his calm and consistent presence, he works to build trust across both field and office teams.
